“I the Lord am
your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt ;
Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.”(NIV)
Feeding a small
child may be one of the most challenging jobs of parenting. Even Einstein would have been challenged to
come up with a way to get the job done. Some feeding
techniques have stood the test of time.
They’ve been passed down, along with Grandma’s special recipes, from one
generation to the next.
One such tactic
is the “dive bomber”. You know, the spoon becomes a dive-bomber,
flying erratically up and down until it reaches its destination, hopefully an
open mouth. This approach seldom fails
to bring laughter. And, if you are
fortunate, a little food even manages to get into the child’s mouth.
At other times the
mouth becomes a sealed tomb. The
dive-bomber must retreat, having failed its mission. No amount of coaxing or threats will
accomplish the purpose. The tomb is
forever sealed. The food dribbles down
the child’s chin and onto the just waxed floor.
God
has prepared a sumptuous spiritual feast for his children, a table laden with
delicacies that will fill us emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. How sad that, like stubborn children, we
refuse to eat. We close our mouth
tight. What God has prepared for us
dribbles down our chins and onto the floor.
Feast
on all God has for you. Open your mouth
wide.

I so remember those days! Well, my mouth is wide open, I think, just waiting for God to fill it w/blessings.
Tina, isn't it awesome to think that the God of the universe is willing to bless us? I find that amazing!
