I'm singing hallelujah this morning. Why? I JUST GOT UP!
For someone who struggles to sleep until three or four in the morning (no matter what time I go to bed) this is a real blessing!
Oh, I did have a 3 a.m. bathroom run but I bowed my neck and refused to stay up. I said to myself, "I am going back to bed even if I don't sleep." Once back in bed, I sang (not out loud, of course -hubby would not have appreciated that), I prayed, and I planned. The next thing I knew I was jumping out of bed to come write this blog.
Everybody needs rest. It's part of the way God made us. Some rest comes by sleeping a decent amount of time. But, there is an even greater rest. It's when we take our troubles and cares and give them to Jesus. He told us to do that. He said, "Come unto me, you who are heavy laden and I will give you rest."
Sometimes we give our burdens to him right away. Lots of times, however, we try to fix our problems ourselves. When we finally realize we can't do anything ourselves to fix the situation, we go to him.
Do you or someone you know need rest from troubles and difficulties? Give them to Jesus. Astounding as it may seem, he has given us a standing invitation to do so!
Praying we all give our burdens to Jesus today, Gloria
