Cleaning The Right Thing

In a few days, two of my sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law are arriving for a visit. My house doesn’t know what to think. It is being scrubbed, dusted, vacuumed and all other sorts of things it is not accustomed to experiencing!

After all, I want to “put my best foot forward”, as the old saying goes. I surely wouldn’t want my in-laws to see a messy house. Ah, the things we do to impress others! : D

It got me to thinking. Are we sometimes more concerned about cleaning up in preparation for visitors than we are about getting cleaned up in preparation for the Lord’s coming?

When Jesus returns I don’t want my house clean (well, maybe that too) but I do want Him to find my life clean, more conformed to His image than when I first gave Him my life.  That is my goal. It’s God’s goal as well.

Question: How is your spiritual housekeeping going? Need to make changes? It’s not too late. He hasn’t arrived yet (but I don’t think it will be much longer before He gets here!). And, He will be so pleased with what He sees!

Doing some cleaning today, Gloria
