Do you ever look back at your life and wonder how the years went so quickly? No? Well, just wait until you get my age and you probably will!
You get kind of nostalgic at times when you know your closer to the end of your life than to its beginning. You do a little evaluating. Was it a worthy life? Did you accomplish what you feel God wanted you to accomplish? Did you impact others in a positive way? Will you have any rewards to lay at Jesus' feet when you stand before him?
The scripture that life is a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes is so true. The hours become days, the days months, the months years. One day you wake up and say, "Whoa, how did I get here so fast?"
Evaluate the hours, days, months, years that have passed in your life. What have they been filled with? Were they lived for self or for others? Did they glorify God? Have you become more godly over those years. Can people see Jesus in you?
All us can look back and bemoan failures. Satan loves for us to do that. Look back at the successes! Find those areas where you HAVE done the right thing, said the right thing, lived the God life. Then praise God that he has grown you in those areas. Ask him to continue conforming you to the image of his Son in all the years you have left.
May the years before us be a time of growing, learning, and drawing closer to God. Then, no matter how long or short the time we have left, we'll have lived a life that was really worth living!
Hoping to keep growing closer to God for the time I have left, Gloria
