Spiritual Breaks

It's getting closer! Soon I'll be lazing under a blue sky and majestic trees. I'm going to the mountains for a few days.

Well, I may not lounge too much with three young grandchildren on the trip. But, who cares. It will be a sweeter time with them there. I'll just have to recuperate from my trip after I get back!

I can't begin to tell you how I feel when I'm surrounded by stately pines. As I listen to the wind slip in and out between their needles and watch them sway softly, I'm somehow comforted. Like a cup of hot chocolate on a frigid winter morning.

Everybody needs a time to get away, even if it's just to the local park or a nearby grassy knoll. The mind and body can be restored greatly with these "breaks."

We need spiritual breaks, too. Time to get alone with God, to read his Word and talk with him. And, of course, let him talk to us!

Lately, I've started singing during my devotion time. God must really love me to listen to me sing! Sure, my voice cracks a little and I may not hit all the notes right but I don't think God really cares.

I can't begin to tell you what it does for me to spend time with God. It's like taking a big gulp of peace. Or a restorative tablet that energizes you and makes it possible to go on, even in the most difficult of times.

Are you taking those spiritual breaks daily? Start now. You will find that you're able to better cope with what life throws your way. You might even try singing to God. Surely, you can't sound any worse than I do. And, I think God, like other fathers, thinks his kid sounds great!

Loving my spiritual breaks, Gloria

Dear Miss Gloria,
I just love you. Thank you for your encouraging words. Sometimes I get discouraged because I am a stay at home mother and I simply don't pay too much attention to my grooming habits like I should. I have two young boy's and as messy as it is playing with them all day, I know I need to look decent by the time husband Fidel returns home. I think you are a beautiful lady and I look forward to growing spiritually everyday as I read your inspiring words of wisdom. You are my mentor. Thank you.
Sincerely and with love,
Lauraine

Lauraine, I love you, too!

Your words made me cry! I consider it an honor that God could use my words to encourage you. And, you tell Mr. Fidel he has a beauty for a wife and not to forget it or he'll have me to deal with! :D

Love you both (and the boys, of course), Gloria
