No Misery In This Company!

Have you heard the old saying, "Misery loves company?" Well, I think it applies to getting older, too. You don't want to be the only one all this "stuff" is happening to!

I recently had a friend who started to introduce me to his family. He said, "This is Gloria. . .(long pause). He couldn't remember my name!

It is quite embarrassing when you can't remember a friend's name, even worse when you can't remember close family members' names (like your children). While family will usually be tolerant of our foibles, we can only hope our younger friends are not sensitive about the fact we have no idea who they are!

I don't adhere to the misery loves company idea. I don't wish the perils of old age on anyone, especially my friends. However, I might struggle a bit if I was the only one whose joints ached, brain malfunctioned, and skin sagged!

There is one area I want company. I want all my friends, family, even those who hate me, to be part of my family . . . the family of God. No misery here, only love, comfort and hope. And, the company is great!

Looking forward to an eternity without misery and in the company of the family of God, Gloria
