Feelings

Do you ever feel empty? Like your spirit is weighed down but you can't put your finger on why?
That's me this morning.

Of course, it doesn't help that I've been awake every hour on the hour all night long. I've been told that difficulty sleeping sometimes happens when you get older. I wonder why. Of course, lots of things start happening when you get older, many of which I'd just as soon not have to deal with! But, why should I be any different than millions of others?

In my earlier years as a believer, I thought I should always FEEL something or I wasn't walking with the Lord as I should be. I have changed my beliefs on that as the years have piled up.

I believe feelings are important in my relationship to the Lord but they are not primary. Faith is.

Faith makes you go on when the feelings aren't there.
Faith makes you believe God loves you when you don't feel he does.
Faith makes you believe God is working in your life when you don't feel he is.
Faith makes you trust that things are right between you and God when feelings would dictate otherwise.
Faith makes you believe you have great worth in God's eyes when feelings say you are worthless.

How are your feelings today? If you're struggling a little, like me, remember to not dwell on your feelings. By faith, say, "This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it."

Refusing to let my feelings ruin my day, Gloria
