Rewards Cards

I have a credit card. I use it to purchase things. At the end of the year they send me a small check (I think it's like 1%) for the purchases I have made during the year. I think it's called a Rewards Card. Great idea! I LOVE knowing my shopping actually makes me money!

I've suggested to my husband that I should spend more so we could get more at the end of the year. I don't know why, but he just didn't BUY (heh-heh) into that idea. Oh, well. It was worth suggesting it to him!

Do you know Christians are also saving up rewards? That's right. Everything we do to serve God is being kept on our account.

Jesus told us to not store up treasures on earth. He said it like this:

Matt 6:19-21
"Don't store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be." Holy Bible, New Living Translation

I'm not talking about buying your way into heaven. These rewards are given to believers who do things out of a deep love for what Jesus did for them. It's not a set of rules and regulations.

You know what I mean? If you love someone, you do things for them. Nobody MAKES you do them. Nobody gives you a list of things you have to do. You just do them!

Not serving God to get into heaven but out of love for Jesus, that's what will store up rewards for us in heaven. Be sure you know the difference because the other kind will not be accepted there. The Bible calls it wood, hay and stubble. It will be burned away.

Another thing. The rewards up there are going to far surpass any Rewards Card down here!

Glad I have a Rewards Card down here but more thankful for heavenly rewards, Gloria
