Good Times, Bad Times

Life can sometimes be difficult. It doesn't have to be "humongous" stresses, just the day to day things that press in on us as we go about living our lives. Other times, it's big things that suddenly plop down in our lives, things we didn't expect and were not prepared for. It can be anything from health to relationships. Whatever it is , it challenges us, almost dares us to live the abundant life Jesus said we were to live.

I don't care for the difficult life but it seems the last few years God has ordained it for me. What do I do? Blame God. Scream and cry telling him he's being unfair to me. I HAVE done the crying bit quite often but I cannot say God is unfair to me. If God were to be fair to me, I'd be in hell. I remind myself of that when I have those "pity party" days.

How do we handle life when it's difficult? We handle it one day at a time. I am working on doing that. Whenever thoughts about situations I have no control over try to overwhelm me. l think of the scripture and say, "Take no thought about tomorrow. . .each day has enough trouble of its own."

Is your life difficult right now? Hang on. Better yet, let God hang on to you! I've just recently begun memorizing Psalm. 94: 18-19. Verse 18 says, "When I say, "My foot slips," Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up."

Is your life relatively smooth right now? Hang on! Everyone will experience periods of difficulty. Be prepared. When (not if) those times come, I pray God's Holy Spirit will help you recall what you read here today. I would be honored to think I might have helped you.

Trusting God's mercy to hold me up, Gloria
