Well, I've learned I have one more chance to enjoy the winter weather. A storm is coming in this weekend. I don't know if we'll get snow but you never know. If we do, you can be sure I'll make one more snowman. I'll take a picture of it and put it on my office wall. When the weather is 110 outside this summer, I'll look up at my snowman, remember the nice cold weather and hope for next winter. Hey, it doesn't take much to make me happy!
It's always nice to have something to look forward to. Like I look forward to Fridays. It's the night I hope to go out to dinner.
I think I've told this before but I hope you don't mind hearing again. And, if you're like me, you've probably already forgotten it!
After my mother died, my brother and I went to live with our aunt and uncle. They did good to keep food on the table for their three kids and the two of us. Both worked. There was not much extra money. My uncle drank away some of it. But, on Friday night, after work, he always stopped and got us something. It was usually something like hamburgers. Friday nights were the highlight of the week!
To this day, I look forward to going out on Friday. Sorry, the bringing it home to eat just doesn't do it for me anymore. That means I have to clean up after we eat. If we go out, all I do is enjoy my meal. Pretty lazy, huh? Well, now you know. I have no excuse. Spoiled I guess.
What are you looking forward to? Is it something that propels you onward? Helps you get through difficult times? Makes you think it's worth what you are going through?
Today, thank God for hope. Hope makes our lives more abundant, worth living, worth sacrificing the now for the future. What a wonderful gift hope is.
Lost hope? Don't despair! Ask God to stir your heart and give you hope again. He can do that!
Thanking God for the gift of hope, Gloria
