Krispy Creme and Cotton Candy

One of my grandson's had a birthday yesterday. We met them, had dinner and went to Krispy Creme (his choice) for dessert.

I'm not much of a donut eater. . .except a Krispy Creme donut! I think it's because they are so much like cotton candy, another one of my favorite things. Pop either of those things in your mouth and they kind of melt and slide down your throat, depositing sweet delights to your taste buds as they go. But, after you've swallowed, you feel like you haven't eaten anything. Too light and fluffy. No substance. Leaving a feeling of wanting more.

Living our lives under our own direction instead of God's (Christians and non-believers alike) is kind of like eating cotton candy or Krispy Creme donuts. At first, it's okay. You enjoy controlling your own destiny, making decisions daily without consulting God, living the way you desire with no consideration of God. But, somewhere down the line, you notice your life has no substance, leaving a feeling of wanting more. Like you haven't really lived at all.

Let's live a life of substance, seeking God's guidance in our lives. If we do, we will never have to feel anything is lacking because God fills our lives with abundance. And, there are no calories to worry about!

Desiring to live the abundant life God promised me, Gloria
