It's snowing! Not little flakes. Big flakes. Flakes bigger than a quarter. They come floating down so softly. As I watch I'm mesmerized by their beauty.
As I relish the appearance of snow, others disdain its presence. Streets laden with snow. Dangerous driving conditions. Having to work out in the cold. Some feel very differently toward snow than I do.
As I considered snow God gave me this thought. Snow appears harmless. It enthralls. It mesmerizes. It brings delight. It looks so beautiful. So pure.
Sin is kind of like snow. It can enthrall us, seem harmless, bring delight (yes, sin does delight...for a time.),mesmerize us and seem so beautiful. We fail to see the havoc it can create in our lives and the lives of those around us. Like those who see snow differently, we need to see sin differently. Sin creates dangerous conditions.
You may say, "Well, she's not talking to me this morning." Am I not? We sometimes see sin as the "BIG" things like murder, adultery, homosexuality. We can smugly say we do none of those things.
Don't fail to see sin in your life. Gossip, angry words, self-righteousness, unwilling to forgive, unkindness, feelings of superiority, failing to forgive. All these can be "snow" in your life.
Take a good look at your life today. Allow God to show you where you have been mesmerized by your sin. Rid your life of it.
Seeing snow in a different light, Gloria
