Welcome to Gloria's Bed and Breakfast. In the last four weeks I have had relatives visiting. First my sister-in-law visited for two weeks. Then my grandchildren came for a week. Now I am about to have another guest for two or three days.
Of course, you know what it means when you have company. Yep. You have to clean the house. My house hasn't sparkled so much since we moved in three years ago!
I spent the better part of yesterday dusting, changing sheets, washing, mopping floors and dusting. Today I will vacuum and finish up the small details before our guest arrives tomorrow. Then I'll cook, and cook and cook. No going out to breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. Do you think I want my guest to think I never cook!
In the midst of all this I'm decorating my house for the holidays and preparing samples of wrapping ideas. Each year, at our Home For The Holidays event, I teach a class on making beautiful gift wrapping with things from the dollar stores. I also have rehearsals for the Christmas Eve service material I wrote. I have to squeeze in time to study for a Bible class I'm teaching each week and a speaking engagment for MOPS. To say my plate is full is not an exaggeration!
The natural thing would be to jump out of bed each morning and rush to start my projects. That is the kind of personality I am. It would be so easy for me to do that. I know it's not the best thing for me.
A few minutes of prayer and Bible study, even on the most hectic of days, will make my day better. Not because I feel I have to spend the time with God but because my relationship with him is my priority. On the days I do not take the time, God does not scold me. He and I just know I've missed a wonderful opportunity to know him better. My loss.
How about you? Are you missing those times of knowing God because you are too busy?
Hoping to take time for the REAL priorities today, Gloria

Hang in there, Gloria! You know, I spoke at MOPS once (on books for children, of course)---when my daughter's children were young enough that she could be a member. It was such fun, and it's a great organization. Looking forward to the always-wonderful gathering at your home in Dec.
Marge
Marge, looking forward to our getting together, especially since I missed seeing all of you this month.
