MISFIT

I’m sorry to have missed so many days writing my devotions. My sister-in-law is here and we’re showing her some of California. Some of the places we go do not have WiFi. We’ll be leaving today. I hope to be able to do devotions each day at the campsite we will have. Check in. If I can’t post, I will be back by Friday and will post then. Thanks for being patient. And thanks for taking the time to read my posts. If you didn’t, there would be no blog!!

P.S. Feel free to pass this blog along to your friends. The more the merrier!!

Now for my devotion today!

I’m a misfit. I hate coffee. I love the smell but the taste makes we wonder why all the millions of people bother drinking it. Being from the south, where coffee was more a staple than flour, made me especially a misfit.

As soon as your feet hit the floor in the morning, you headed for the kitchen and started the coffee pot. The aroma of the deep black brew filled the air, signaling to everyone else in the house that it was time to start the day.

You dropped by friends houses, sat out on the porch and talked about insignificant things as you slowly sipped the dark nectar.

At church potlucks, you sat around tables, fingers wrapped around a cheap white cup filled with the steaming blackness, laughed and reminisced.

I’m a misfit in another way. I don’t fit into this world. It’s because I don’t really belong here. I’ll be going home some day. Until I do, I hope I continue to be a misfit. I want to stick out like a sore thumb!

I don’t want to think, act, or speak like this world. And, I hope the world will notice I am different and ask me why. I may be able to share Jesus with them, have them commit their lives to him, and they can become misfits too!

A misfit in this world and happy I am, Gloria
