God, My Provider

Another name to add to our list of names of God.

Abraham waited years for the son God had promised him. In fact, he and Sarah were well past child-bearing when their son, Isaac, was born. Such a gift! A gift it seemed God was now going to take away.

God told Abraham to take Isaac and sacrifice him on an altar. What kind of God was this to give him a long awaited son and now ask him to kill him as an offering? Abraham may have struggled with this command but he did heed it. He placed Isaac on the altar and was about to plunge the knife into his son's body when the angel of the Lord called out for Abraham to stop. Abraham had passed the test. His son did not have to die!

Abraham looked up to see a ram caught by its horns in a thicket. God had provided a substitute! Abraham called the place, Jehovah Jireh, The Lord will provide.

What do you need God to provide for you? Health? Faith? Comfort? Deliverance? Finances?

Walk in faith as Abraham did and watch God provide everything you need. Not what you want but what you need.

Trusting God for what I need, Gloria
