Doing What's Right

I missed church last night. Maybe you are saying, "So, what's the big deal about that?"

I like going to church! Since I'm the pastor's wife, it's probably a good think that I do like going. Most of the church members kind of expect me to be there, at least some of the time!

I confess, there have been times I went to church, not because of any deep spiritual reason but because I felt it was the right thing to do. Funny thing is, even in those times I was blessed from having gone. And, it may be my being there encouraged someone else.

Every day we must choose between doing something we want to do and something we feel is the right thing to do. Most of us would rather go to lunch with a friend than clean someone's windows. But, I wonder which will have the more lasting effect on us and the one we helped. Sometimes it is best to choose the more difficult.

Ask God to guide you today in the decisions you make. Maybe he'll ask you to do something that will be an inconvenience. Do it! It is always best to follow his leading. There is where the true joy is. And, who knows. Maybe tomorrow he'll suggest you go to lunch with a good friend!

Listening to hear what God wants me to do today, Gloria
