Dependence Day

Tomorrow we celebrate Independence Day. Picnics, barbecues, trips to the beach have all become part of the holiday. We're so busy having fun, we sometimes forget why we have the holiday!

Independence (as in the case of our country's independence) is a good thing.

Americans have a spirit of being independent. We rely on ourselves and are confident we can handle things on our own.

Sometimes being independent is not so good. Taking our lives into our own hands and trying to be independent of God is NOT a good thing.

Our founding fathers depended on God, believed he directed in the affairs of men and asked for his guidance. The America of today is far from that concept.

Maybe we need to celebrate a Dependence Day. Dependence on a mighty God to intervene and set our country aright again. Let's declare a Dependence Day in our personal lives, asking God to control us and direct our lives as he sees fit. Sounds strange but, if we do those things, we will experience freedom as never before.

Planning on celebrating Dependence Day, Gloria
