Chickens In The Bed

I woke up at one o'clock this morning. Why? I couldn't tell you. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that I went to bed at eight. Only to read of course. Wonder what I read?

When I was a child, I heard the statement, "They go to bed with the chickens." Since I was not raised on a farm, I had no idea what they were talking about. Kids today would have the same
problem if someone said this. They would probably visualize chickens lying around on the beds of their owners. After all, their dogs go to bed with them!

That kind of misunderstanding about what has been said makes us chuckle. However, there are
times when people say things and we misunderstand or misinterpret them and the result is
hurt feelings and severed relationships.

What is the solution? Ask. Imagine what a different picture I would have had as a child if I had simply said, "What did you mean by that?"

Instead of huffing off angry many things can be resolved by just talking about them. By not allowing our minds to conjure up things that are not really true, we see the real picture. Much
better than a bed full of imagined chickens!

Trying to not see chickens in my bed, Gloria
