Who's In Control Here?

Charlie Brown said in a cartoon, "I love humanity, it's people I can't stand" (or something similar to that). There are days I feel like Charlie Brown. How about you?

I know I'm supposed to love everyone. I know I'm supposed to turn the other cheek. I know I'm supposed to be patient.

There are days I find that harder to do than others. Some days my old flesh rises up, slaps me in the face and says, "Hey, wake up. You've taken enough! Fight back!"

How I react to the flesh's suggestions determines my day. I can stew and steam, gripe and complain, whine and bemoan my situation. That makes for a very miserable day.

If I resist the onslaught of the flesh and refuse to give in to the ungodly suggestions, my day is better. It doesn't mean the irritations go away. It just means I don't let the irritations get the best of me.

All of us have situations in our lives that are far from perfect. We may not have the power to change the situations but we can change how we react to them. God has given us that ability. When we allow him to live out his life in us, we'll always handle life's difficulties in a way that will bring us peace and him glory.

Trying to let God take control and not my flesh, Gloria
