Doing the Right Thing

This weekend is Father's Day. Time to give Dad a tie he'll never wear. Or maybe it will be a shirt he hates but would never tell you so. Time to drag him out to a restaurant for a Father's Day meal when he'd rather eat in front of the television. Ah, what our poor dad's endure!

I did not have a close relationship to my father. Still, I tried to live by the scripture to honor our fathers. I always called him on Father's Day and his birthday. I kept in touch by phone on a regular basis. When we went back home to visit our relatives, I always spent time with him when I preferred spending the time with Wayne's family. I did it because it was the right thing to do. It was the godly thing to do.

Some people have wonderful relationships with their fathers. It will be easy to celebrate and honor them on Sunday. What about those of you who do not have such a relationship? Do the godly thing and reach out to your father. Let him see the love of Christ in you by how you react. Sometimes we must do the right thing because it's the right thing to do.

Hoping I'll do the right thing in all situations, Gloria
