Purpose

We had a friend who was not an early riser. He always said, "Most people get up and say, 'Good morning, Lord.' I get up and say, "Oh, Lord, it's morning!"

What makes one person thrilled to have another day to live. A person who wakes with an enthusiasm for life and a desire to make the most of the time given.

What makes another person dread the sound of the alarm clock or light shining through their window because they know there's another day to survive?

Could it be purpose (or the lack of it)?

Everyone needs purpose.

Purpose is a great motivator to make you get out of bed. Purpose makes you go through a day no matter how much drudgery it contains. Purpose makes you believe your life is making an impact in the lives of others.

There are many things that could rob us of our joy of life...if we allow them to do so. I'm acquainted with people who are ill and yet they are the sweetest spirited people around. They have not let bad health destroy their zest for life. I admire them so much!

Others I know have such burdens I am amazed they are not destroyed by their circumstances. Still, they smile and live life to the fullest. They are my inspiration!

The people I have mentioned have a purpose. Their purpose? To glorify God in their situation.

I pray I will have the same purpose. No matter what I go through, no matter what I have to face, no matter what each day brings for me, may I have as MY purpose that God be glorified in my life, that others will be drawn to him because of me. Oh, how much I pray for that!

Hoping I don't forget my purpose for living...to glorify God, Gloria
