Well, another week coming to a close. I think someone is coming in a stealing some of my days. I'm sure yesterday was Tuesday, so how can it be Friday?
The scripture says, "Man is just a vapor. He appears for a little while and then vanishes away." As they say in the south, "Ain't it the truth!"
Just yesterday I was a kid singing on the radio at our local station, WRJW (I'm amazed I remember the name!) or standing on the local movie theatre stage for our Saturday talent shows. I can't remember what I did. I don't know of any particular talent I had. Still, it was fun, carefree days. Days before growing up got in the way.
I remember muggy Mississippi summers where humidity dripped like raindrops. Where the sun baked your brain and sweat poured off you, even after you had taken a bath.
I remember cold drinks out of glass bottles, skates that had to be tightened with keys, and playing all over the neighborhood till dark because no one was going to harm you.
So much time has gone. So little left.
What will I do with it? What will you do with it?
You who are young, treasure each moment. You who are old, treasure each moment.
God has allotted each of us a specific time here. How are we using those precious, years, weeks, days, hours, minutes? At the end of this ever so brief journey here on earth, may he be able to say, "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness." Matt. 25:21
Vaporizing at record speed, Gloria
P.S. See you on Monday. "Parting is such sweet sorrow." :)
